We flew to LAX separately, from Philadelphia and Austin, and our flights were on time. Huey arrived first and drove to the LA Jewelry District to retrieve Robin's engagement ring from the jeweler who made the ring, where it was being resized, then back to LAX to pickup Robin. A quick stop for a bite to eat at the hip, trendy eatery Charles II (ne Carl's Jr.), and we were on the road to La Jolla, the San Diego suburb known for its shopping and dining options, where we spent the night at the modest, but nice Sheraton La Jolla. We had a great dinner at Vigulucci's Seafood, Steak & Chophouse (highly recommended) in Downtown La Jolla, but, having overdone it at Charles II, we were too full for dessert. (If you're thinking "THAT'S no way to begin a month-long vacation," we couldn't agree more!)
Back at the hotel, we went to bed almost immediately. Day Two is a big one, promising "lions and tigers and bears...." (You know the rest.)
